About us
Love Your Neighbour Birmingham is part of Gas Street Church, a Church of England church in Birmingham with four locations. Our Love Your Neighbour hub is based out of Gas Street St Luke’s.
We are a church compelled by a Jesus-centred vision to be ‘Light for the City & Beyond’. We passionately believe that in order to see that vision become reality we need to be a church who gathers and scatters. We gather to worship and pray, to open God's word, to be transformed by His presence, to grow, to serve, to be family together. And then we scatter as compassionate followers of Jesus to be light-bearers, peace-makers, joy-bringers, and city-shapers wherever God sends us.

Our story
Faced with empty church buildings and people plunged into crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 Gas Street Church partnered with Love Your Neighbour to become an official Love Your Neighbour hub here in Birmingham. We turned the Gas Street St Luke’s building into a Foodbank. Volunteers, some for the first time, stepped up and showed up, helping us mobilise quickly and effectively. We delivered over a thousand parcels to people in their homes during the pandemic, and we still have our foodbank delivery operating today. Colmore Coffee opened in 2021, Gas Street’s community coffee shop, which helped us welcome people back into Gas Street St Luke’s during the week.
Since then, our operation has grown! When churches reopened, we reconfigured our set-up, making a permanent home for our foodbank and expanding into our pantry-style provision, The Community Shop. We added employment support and debt and money advice to ensure that, as well as crisis support, we’re also providing help for people to change their circumstances.
Now we have activities every day of the week, ranging from parenting courses to debt appointments, foodbank deliveries to craft club!
Love Your Neighbour has hubs all around the UK, and we love being part of the network!
Our Partnerships
Here at Love Your Neighbour Birmingham, we know the benefits of good partnerships. In particular, during The Community Shop on Thursday mornings we have partners come to the café including Birmingham City Council, ASH adult support hub and the NHS.
Below are charities we work with that do phenomenal things.
